Gloucestershire Youth Choir

The story of GYC

The choir meets on a course basis at various times during the year where they work with lead professional singers who have recently included West End Performer, Craig Mather; National Youth Choir of Great Britain Tutor, Robbie Jacobs; Popular Artist, Fyfe Dangerfield; West End Performer and Leader of the West End Gospel Choir, Nathaniel Morrison; West End Performer, Andy Coxon; Composer and Choir Leader, Alexander L'Estrange and most recently the hip-hop/beatboxing quintet, 5 Mics.

The choir is run by our team of expert teachers and professional performers Ben Sawyer, Catherine Perfect and Hannah Davey, accompanied by Rob Kempner and managed by Lisa Mayo.  We aim to give the singers experiences of contrasting genres throughout the year (this year it has been a mixture of classical, folk/hip-hop/beatboxing fusion, and next comes musical theatre/popular styles!) and provide them with high quality, large scale events to perform at.

We have already had the first course of the 2019-2020 academic year. The next one will be on Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th January 2020 at Sir Thomas Rich's School. To enrol for the next course please click here
