We are delighted to be able to partially reopen Colwell Arts Centre from the 26th April 2021 on a strict appointment-only basis. To collect, return or exchange an instrument, please contact us at glosmusic@gloucestershire.gov.uk to make an appointment.

Whilst we are unable to provide you with our normal music lessons, music centres, county music groups and events due to Government restrictions we are putting our efforts into providing you with some educational, fun, inspiring links to enable you to keep your music making going! Click here for more information.

Please note that all face-to-face rehearsals and concerts have been cancelled until further notice, keeping in line with the Government’s direction on COVID-19. However, we are delighted to announce the launch of our online ensemble sessions, open to anyone in Gloucestershire. Please click here for more details.

Rehearse with the Professionals

On Tuesday 15th March, the Colwell Arts Orchestra and the Gloucestershire Youth Sinfonia will be joining forces to work with five professional members of the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra.

If you play an orchestral instrument (string, woodwind, brass or percussion) and are grade 4 or above, sign up now for this great opportunity to rehearse alongside local musicians and our special guests from the BSO.

We will be meeting in the main hall of Sir Thomas Rich’s School.  Parking is available to the far left hand side of the school site, which is near the reception entrance. There is also parking at the front of the school.

Registration starts at 18:00 with the aim to be working with tutors by 18:30.  Our chosen work for the evening will be Cavalleria Rusticana (Mascagni).

Contact us now to secure your place by emailing steve.legge@gloucestershire.gov.uk or alternatively turn up on the day.  You will need to bring a music stand and your instrument (percussion provided).  The fee to attend is £10 (payable on the evening).
This workshop is one of our ‘working with the professionals’ events.  We have already worked with the BSO this year and each event is always a great success.  This workshop is aimed at giving aspiring musicians, of any age, the chance to learn some new skills and improve their playing.
