The day itself.  Important safeguarding info.

We have all the information we need from you at this stage via your survey monkey form.  If at all possible, it is important for a parent / guardian to stay with a young person for this session.  Adults will be able to join in and try instruments and will learn about our adult LAYP Scheme (see attached).  As we will be talking though our F.A.M.E. and LAYP programmes it is very useful for parents to be there.  If you are intending on leaving a young person with us, please ensure we have all the info we need to help safeguard your child(ren).  All of our staff are DBS checked and there will be a first aider on site.  It is important we have a number that we can contact you on and that students come with a drink, snack and any medication they may take regularly.

What instruments can we try?

There will be a range of woodwind, string and brass instruments for you all to try.  The first session will focus on how the instruments work and will concentrate on trumpets, clarinets and violins.  The section session will give you a little time to try other instruments from those families. Please note:  sorry but we will be unable to offer drums, guitars or keyboards.

Location, times and cost.

The workshop will take place at the Colwell Arts Centre, Derby Road, Gloucester, GL1 4AD.  It is clearly sign posted from the road and there is free parking behind our building or on streets nearby.  Please arrive at 09:45 (no earlier please).  The workshop will run from 10:00 – 12:45 and will be finished by 13:00.  It may be possible to leave earlier if you have tried all the instruments you wish.

The workshop is free!  We will have a couple of donation buckets at the workshop so any donations would be welcome but are entirely voluntary.
