    NYJO Masterclass

Young musicians from our GM groups with a keen ear and enthusiasm for Jazz got to experience a workshop yesterday relating to some of it's core history - a good snapshot in a day!

Our guest musicians and educators were from NYJO - tutor Paul Edis and NYJO ambassadors Matt and Ucheena, who gave plenty of valuable input to the crucial listening, awareness, practical skills, improvisation, interaction and useful theory used in Jazz playing.

The workshop included rhythmic warm-ups, learning and exploring key principles of New Orleans, Swing, Bebop, Modal and Free Jazz too. There was also opportunity to briefly find out about the NYJO ambassadors with insight into their routes and experiences into the music industry so far. Definitely a lot covered in one day!

Thank you to all the musicians involved - a very encouraging ensemble sound with plenty of improvising opportunity too. Hope everyone involved enjoyed the experience.
