Meet The Students!

Meet The Students!

Our students are at the heart of everything we do at Gloucestershire Music.  Many of them join us from an early age, and it is a privilege to watch them grow and see and hear their skills develop.  Some will go on to study Music at higher levels and may even choose it as their career path but for others Music will become a lifelong passion and skill that will enhance their lives and always give them pathways to express themselves and opportunities to participate in wonderful musical experiences and groups.

Whether joining a music centre or a county music group, being part of a musical ensemble is what music making is all about.  It opens up a whole world of music that you just can't access in your weekly instrumental lessons alone.  Whether you are playing a memorable melody, providing the heartfelt harmony, injecting pizazz on percussion or 'beefing up' the bass line, playing in an ensemble helps to develop your musicianship skills to enable you to be the best musician you can be.  It also helps to boost your confidence as you have the support of playing with many other people and will be inspired and guided by wonderful tutors and dedicated peers.  Best of all though it will open up a whole new world of friends who, like you, love music! What are you waiting for...come and join us!

We asked a few of our students to share a bit about themselves and will be adding to this page regularly with videos from many more of our students of all ages in the forthcoming weeks.

Our first videos are from members of our wonderful Student Panel.  The panel of 13 members meet every half-term and are a hugely important part of our strategic planning process.  Their skills as panel members have built over the last couple of years and they have now got a good understanding of how Gloucestershire Music and the funding works.  They are proactive and thoughtful in their feedback and ideas and the Management Team always include the minutes from their meetings in our planning meetings.  Lots of their ideas have been put into practice already and some exciting plans they have been helping to shape are in the pipeline for 2022!

If there are any other members of GM who would like to be part of this panel then please email us at glosmusic@gloucestershire.gov.uk, and we'd be pleased to discuss this role with you.
